A Century In Video - 1918

A short film about the Utrecht fire department in 1918.

I had Google translate the blurb:

Portrait of the fire department of the city of Utrecht, in 1918 incorporated by Willy Mullens when he made a film about the city of Utrecht. Especially for the filmmaker rukte the fire department with major equipment and bluste a 'fire' in the Fruithal, then in the Vreeburg stood. It also contains images of the film first aid classes, rescuing victims with the help of a vangzeil and other spectacular brandweeroefeningen.

Well it kinda makes sense.

As you watch the video, answer me this question:

If You Really Love Your Dog...

... give her a beer

Introducing Beer For Dogs.

That may explain this:

Disclaimer:apparently that dog is actually recovering from anesthetic

You may notice that Happy Tail Ale advertises itself as the "only beer for dogs". Apparently not.

Alas, Brat won't be having any soon unless she travels to the states.

Note: I never thought I would find anything on flicker by searching "dachshund beer", and was pleasantly surprised by the photo at the top of this entry.

III Dachshunds Beer Co. is a Wisconsin company that makes Cider, Root beer and a bunch of different types of beer

If I'm ever out that way I'll have to check it out.

If no-one is willing to buy me one of these.

Howzabout this baby!

Have a look @ the demo film and go here for additional info.

Add a catheter and a telecommuting position and I'd never need to move again :-)

A Century In Video - 1917

Hot trendy fashion - 1917 style!

New handbag, or strangled chicken?

I guess they couldn't find her size. Notice how her foot is almost oozing out the sides of those painful looking shoes?

I finally got fluffy to stay!

This is my Walkin suit. My Christopher Walkin suit. It's torture to wear.

When you watch the video you have to wonder if A) The model was in a great deal of pain, or 2) They hadn't figured out the catwalk yet.
(And yes I KNOW Mr. Walken spells his name with an "E". Shut up already!)

New for 1917 - Acorns with mosquito netting.

Aways - Extra protection for your "delicate" areas.

Uhmmm, madam? Zee gown iz stuck in zee knickers.

And some things just don't change much over time. Take off the buckle and you could buy these now

And here is the actual video. I warn you, you will be in sympathy pain by the end.

Simon Tofield of Tandem Films is a brilliant filmmaker.

I just hope he continues with his wonderful cat cartoons.

More of his work is available via the Tandem link above, but these two are my favourites.

Note: I can't link directly to his stuff. Go to site and then click on the "directors" and his name on right side of screen.

Y'all may know this first one. Came out a few months or so ago and was a big hit. I thought I had already posted it, but apparently not... (at least I can't find it!)

And here is his newest with the same friendly, loving cat :-)

And remember, you may think you own your cat, but you're wrong!

Added bit:

Nothing to do with the above. Except it's a cat video and it's demented and I love it!

I like to call it "Big boobed kitty eats Tintin"
