Vancouver? or Los Angeles?

Looks like OJ got a bigger truck:

Details here from News 1130.

Seems the "driver" is from New West. Makes me so proud.

At one point early in the chase the newscasters are asking if this is a stolen truck. Ummm, ya think? Maybe just a really, really bad choice in getaway vehicle.

I watched the whole thing on the news this morning, but I only noticed something now while watching the clip. The Anchor Steve Darling @ one point seems to call the helicopter reporter Kim instead of Kaitlyn. I presume that is because for many years the "eye in the sky" was Kim Shields, but she left a few years ago.

Kaitlyn, do us a favour and kick Steve's ass @ the next Global BC get together.

Gurgle, Gurgle, Whoosh!

9:15 P.M. update: F.I.X.E.D!

Turns out the whatzit was a titch too short, so the hubster used a nurble to extend the flangoid. In any case: das Wasser ist hier.

~~~~~ Original Post ~~~~~
Well I was going to post something proper tonight. But the main water line broke (maybe), and now I'm only thinking about the potential lack of water for a few days.
Wonder how gross the showers are at work?
In any case the hubster was in the shower when the water pressure died. He went outside and noticed water flowing freely from under the car where the main water shut-off is.
(For dramatization purposes only - not actual break. Like we could afford a back-hoe)
He's now outside draining the water shut-off hole thingy to check out the damage. If we are lucky it's only a connector - Please, please, please, please, please!
A Century In Video - 1920 (A Departure)
I couldn't find anything I liked for 1920. But I did find this:
(sound not really needed, music in background is The Entertainer most famously from The Sting.)
Maybe I'm twelve, but I really loved this piece.
It's a high school project, but amazing good for such. Although I suppose high school kids are a hell of a lot more technically savvy than I was back in the 1880's1980's.
Genießen!
My New Desk?
Because of department mergers and staff changes there will be reconfiguration of our staff workroom.
Most of the desks will stay where they are, but a bunch are being rearranged into pods.
My suggestion is to scrap that plan and just give everyone a new desk.
Can I have this one please?
The top photo shows my current desk taken a couple years back. It's even messier now.
Graphic Humour
I'm afraid that even at my advanced age I'm a big fan of I Has A Hotdog! and I Can Has Cheezburger?
Well the producers of those two sites have another site that I just discovered: GraphJam: Pop culture for people in cubicles.
Basically it's a site full of graphs. Bar graphs, Pie Charts, String charts, charts that I don't have a clue what they are called. But unlike your economics 101 class, these charts are entertaining.
Most refer to pop culture (hence the name), such as song lyrics, or movies. Others seem to be created by people that are pissed off at something.
If you're anywhere around my age it should take you all of 5 seconds to figure this one out:
Looks like this person spent the night at a really dull party:
funny graphs
I couldn't agree more!:
song chart memes
Many of the charts have a "See Cheat Sheet" link that leads to a helpful video. Good thing too as it's the only way I got this one: (clicking on charts will take you back to source)
have a look, it's an enjoyable time waster.
I Love Facebook, But....
...This is why I'm picky about who is on my friends list.
(From Idiots of Ants)
The PacMan screen grab is from my Facebook account, and that is a current friend request. I have no idea who the person is. We have no friends in common and don't live in the same city, or even the same part of the country.
So, bye bye!
Only vaguely related bit: While looking for a pacman image I ran across this:
This post on Geekologie.
Please to enjoy!
My Eyes, They Burn!
Ladies and Gents, may I present the 2008 Canadian Olympic uniform:
A bit about this beautiful outfit (and I do not jest):
The look: vibrant reds and Chinese symbolism married with Canadian tradition. The Team Canada Beijing Games clothing line is proudly emblazoned with maple leaves, the word Canada written in both English and Mandarin, and uses a primarily red and white colour pallet. Colour inspiration is also drawn from the five elements of Chinese astrology — earth, wood, fire, water and metal — and on some pieces, Chinese symbolism takes the form of the lucky number eight, which, when repeated, makes an attractive pattern.
May I add that this combination does NOT make an attractive pattern.
In fact the last time I saw this pattern there was tequila, three monkeys, cantaloupe and a tilt-o-whirl involved, but that's a different post.
I quote Canadian Olympic swimmer Jennifer Button:
“The fabrics and designs are very forward thinking. The design team really took into consideration the climate, both cultures and the varied body types that they will be outfitting at the Games,” added Button. “I can't wait to see all the athletes in their Team Canada gear!”
Can you picture it? Opening ceremony and here comes Team Canada!
tc
Of course they also have sports specific gear as well as these choice selections for lazing around the Olympic compound in the evenings:
Nice
Ok, last photo was (duh!) BS. But I wouldn't be surprised if that actually was the look they were going for.
It's May, Right?
Longtime readers (ya you, you know who you are) know that I constantly refer to Dooce and her husband Blurbomat (That's Heather & Jon Armstrong in English). They are a very well know blogging couple in Salt Lake City and the parents to Leta, Chuck and Coco.
They also seem to be parents to a whole fuck of a lot of unseasonal weather.
I don't know if I should laugh (cuz it's not me) or cry (cuz this could lead to a whole lot of expensive therapy!)
From Blurbomat's blog:
Added irrelevant note: You may note the name change of this blog from "Let Me Rant!" to "Days of Whine and Wieners". I would like to thank everyone who made a title suggestion, but I thought of this new name in the middle of the night and really kinda liked it. Also no-one else is using it. If you don't have a clue what I'm talking about see this post.
